About Us

Immerse yourself in laid back luxury in mediaeval Dordogne and experience 21st century service at La Palanque, a family owned fully serviced gite complex. La Palanque is situated in Eymet, 20 minutes from Bergerac airport. A former World War one army equestrian training site, the estate on the banks of the river Dropt stretches for 25 acres and features five uniquely styled secluded gites, all equipped with boutique luxury hotel features and concierge services, yet just a short walk from the bustling bastide town Eymet, offering gastronomic restaurants, weekly markets and seasonal fairs.

Within La Palanque’s private grounds guests can recline by the fenced 25 metre heated pool (and smaller shallow baby pool) which has a pool house adjacent with a BBQ terrace. For our younger guests, if they ever tire of whizzing down the pool’s slide, there’s a shaded playground for pre-school and younger children on site, as well as a rustic adventure playground and climbing frame for the older explorers holidaying with parents.

On the communal BBQ terrace you can watch the sun go down enjoying a local glass of wine with new friends, if you want some privacy then there is your own private BBQ area adjacent to your gite to enjoy your own freshly bought produce.

La Palanque’s pond bench and hammock invites those who want to steal away with a book, so relaxing you may even be found asleep beneath it!

Benefitting from Dordogne’s micro climate, ideal for growing wine (St Emilion is cultivated and produced nearby), temperatures are ideal not going much beyond 30 degrees in summer and staying close to 10 degrees in winter typically with blue sunny skies.

With so much to do in the neighbouring surroundings from Bergerac wine tours, the many local chateaus, canoeing on the Dropt, cycle tours or horse riding, to exploring the bastide towns of the Dordogne or chilling on the beach at lake Lougratte you’ll find your spacious fully renovated and modern gite (and Feather & Black beds with Soak and Sleep quality linens), a welcome return. Or you can sit and surf the web on your own private patio – extra chairs provided should some friends drop in for some al fresco dinning after an arduous trip to Eymet’s Thursday market. But don’t worry, work doesn’t need to know you are on line; this is France after all…

The cosmopolitan town of Bordeaux is only a 1.5 hour drive away and well worth a visit just to walk along the promenade and admire The Water Mirror and architecture.

La Palanque’s owners want your holiday to be personal to you. Our chef can cook meals and provide picnics for days out, but the gites have all the necessary culinary equipment so you can prepare your own feasts. Similarly sometimes it’s nice to walk to the patisserie but fresh bread and croissants are delivered for you to wake up to. Tasha our site manager is on hand daily to help book activities or provide suggestions. For more information on the services we can provide, go to our services menu or to send us your requests by email or phone, [email protected]. Et bonne vacances. [Les Ecuries]
